The piano recital given in the Freemasons' Hall last night was notable for much more than that it was in aid of the Edinburgh Society of Musicians.

It brought to the most enthusiastic notice of a very sizeable audience Mario Feniger, whose diverse musical gifts and intelligence enabled him to dispense a Bach transcription, Scarlatti Sonatas, generous helpings of Chopin, Teresa de Bogatis and Liszt, as well as two pieces of his own, with ease and brilliance.

It is hard to believe, though that his powerful and subtle keyboard technique required microphoned amplification but, even so, he achieved the distinction of more than one standing ovation, to which he responded with a generosity of encores.
