NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A college student is suing the Nashville Church of Scientology, a security company and three off-duty Spring Hill police officers for $6 million. Thomas Parker said he was knocked to the ground, handcuffed and arrested, for nothing more than attempting to peacefully protest. The Church of Scientology's grand opening turned into a grand mess when hired security arrested protesters. It would have been a he-said, she-said – except that it was all caught on tape. So let's say you're a councilmember representing some outpost in Nashville. For fun, let's call this place Ledge Hill. As Ledge Hill's representative, it's your job to be present in the community. And part of that presence is a breakfast, usually in a church basement, held once a month. Because you don't just represent one person, you represent everyone living in Ledge Hill, and because every vote counts, thus far you've done your best to include all denominations: Methodist, Catholic, Presbyterian. ...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – There are problems with how security for a Nashville Scientology event was handled, and laws appear to have been broken. In a home video, a group of protesters walk toward the Church of Scientology on the day of the church's grand opening and are stopped by security guards, who knock one protester to the ground and have him arrested for criminal trespass. The altercation happened 400 yards from the church, on the other side of the street. Public ...

Dissent and scientology are mutually exclusive apparently [comments section is especially informative] — Blorbis
Type: Blog
Source: Blorbis
After publishing this article, supporters of the Church of Scientology sent correspondence to Orbis complaining about what they perceived to be a bias in favor of Anonymous. The fact that they apparently keep such close tabs on media about scientology (Vanderbilt Orbis, after all, isn’t as well-known or as well-distributed as the New York Times) doesn’t do much to further their case that they don’t take… aggressive measures… to silence their critics. In the meantime, the Nashville scientologists have apparently decided ...

Thank goodness Isaac Hayes wrote "Soul Man" before he became a Scientologist. Whatever would have become of Sam and Dave or the Blues Brothers if they had belted out a song called "Thetan Man"? According to beliefs promoted by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, the immortal soul – or "thetan" – passes from one body to the next through reincarnations over trillions of years. When a person dies, Hubbard said, the thetan goes to a landing station on Venus where it ...
