Carly Romalino Source:
Gloucester County Times September is National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery month, but for millions of reformed abusers of alcohol and other substances, the cause for celebration was a hard road. According to Derry Hallmark, recovered addict turned Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor at Oklahoma-based Narconon Arrowhead, only one in 10 addicts is successful in rehabilitation programs. The success rate for those addicted to drugs like crack, he said, is only about one in five people. "All drug use starts as an attempt to solve ...

Northwest Florida Daily News Destin can’t stop Narconon Gulf Coast from opening a “community residential home” for recovering addicts as long as the home abides by Florida law, the city’s land-use attorney says. “The state has made a decision to encourage the treatment of individuals â€Â¦ in a community homelike setting,” Land Use Attorney Scott Shirley told the City Council Monday, and that pre-empts the city’s zoning and even homeowner association covenants. It wasn’t what the council wanted to hear. “If I put myself in ...
