WILLEMSTAD—During refurbishing and reparatory work, which involved removing the ceiling and panelling on cruise ship Freewinds, blue asbestos was released and ended up in the ventilation system. Freewinds captain did not report this when it's own personnel were working on the ship on the Mathey warf in Otrobanda. Local Sailors Receive Safety Training Certificates — SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- Twenty-one local seafarers recently received international certification in basic safety training in fire fighting and fire prevention, survival at sea, elementary first aid and personal safety and social responsibility. The local Department of Maritime Affairs collaborated with the MV Freewinds late last year to deliver the necessary training and all 21 of the sailors from the Federation passed the course.
